It starts with stripes of the smile pattern to remind us that we carry the medicine to heal our selves within and we can share it freely with each other with a smile. The cycle of life pattern is the four step greek key like symbol that we get when we join our hands by curling up the fingers into a spiral. It is taught to us that each step represents 13 years of life and that we must honour each 13th year cycle by acknowledging the transformation that happens in our bodies, such a puberty at 13, the brain fully developing and the skull fully closing around 26, we find our true face and true heart with the maturity that comes after 39 years of life experience, and at 52 years of age the Human (moon) calendar and the solar calendar complete a full cycle and align themselves in the same day in which a human was born; thus marking our entrance into the spiritual growth, we start to become ancestors. Around 65 years old, the line declines as we get old and our skeleton, quite literally, shrinks as we initiate our journey back to the earth were we came from; from that perspective, we are not that much different from an annual flower that emerges from the earth to grow, flourish and then return to it. Around 78 years old the line in the cycle of life lays flat pointing us to the direction of rest, we need to slow down, take more siestas and contemplate life but most importantly, elders start to become the earth itself, the medicine, the carriers of knowledge; this is why in our culture elders sit at the front of the table and always lead all ceremonies. Curanderos say that the mere touch and presence of the elders has the power to heal and remind us of our essence, they become the mountains, we call them: Daín, the sacred elders.

The center of this rug has the eye of Bealguiea (Quetzalcoatl, feather snake) a tool that help us navigate the earth in its four directions but also the spiritual/dream world. The left and right side of the diamond represents the balance of the Nawal and Tonal awareness (intuition/logic) while the vertical axis represents the sky and earth energies that flow through our bodies; above the navel we have organs that pull us towards the sky world and below the navel we have organs that pull us towards the earth. The idea is to live a balanced life in the four directions so that the butterfly of love, knowledge and wisdom can come to us to polinize our spirit and flourish. There is a fram of candles (also interpreted as cigars) framing the central eye of god pattern to show the ritual of life that is constatly happening, live life as a ceremony.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0002/0584/8578/files/rn-image_picker_lib_temp_e08d9ec1-3ea5-4e6d-8522-be48d15fc61c.jpg?v=1780928813
