What Our guests have to say

Our stay with Samuel’s family was the highlight of our trip to Mexico. The people in the village are super friendly and the experiences provided by Samuel and is family are unforgettable!

The House

We have a small farm area at home, with a dozen goats, a few sheeps, some chickens, a rooster and 3 friendly dogs. We have quite a fews cows and farmland, but these are a short drive away.

We have an open concept house, where all rooms face a central yard. There are 2 washrooms, both are shared by everyone - we have excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water! Washing machine is also available if you need.

Common areas include some outdoor lounging areas (couches, hammock and table/chairs), the kitchen and the rooftops make for good morning yoga or stargazing spots. The kitchen is a common area. Mom cooks daily meals and you can eat with us (100 pesos) or use the kitchen to cook your own food.

Please keep in mind that this is an operational farm, so we are up early, so are the animals, and we have a truck and tractor that leave the property each morning.

Location

Food

Teotitlan has a great morning market where you can buy pretty much anything you need. Great already made food and ingredients if you want to cook for yourself!

You are always welcome to eat dinner with us, we charge 100 pesos and you can eat as much as you like.

There are a handful of restaurants in town if you want to eat out, read more on the Teotitlan page.

Languages

Our family’s first language is Zapotec and you will hear us speaking it around the house. We all speak Spanish as well. Samuel and Celestino are perfectly fluent in English, and if ever they are not around mom usually manages to communicate weather or not there is a common language between you!
