Materials and methods: criollo sheep wool hand dyed with natural dyes: Beè (Dactylopius coccus Costa, cochineal), Yauhtli (Tagetes Lucida) and Xiuhquilitl (indigofera suffroticosa) . Handwoven on a Zapotec style loom of the 16th century adapted from European styles. Woven using a 7 threads per inch reed and wool rayon blend for warp. 

Design, patterns and symbols. 

This rug was designed by Samuel Bautista Lazo inspired in the traditional ball fire game called buülí guií and the ancient fuego de Pelota of our ancestral culture. The lines represents the change that the ball of fire leaves as they are thrown across the fields of Guiiblnaashnuash (the lady of the rock) during the festivals of the New Year. The Geometry is inspired in the architecture of the ancient ball game courts as seen in the archeological evidence. The mirrored pyramid like pattern in the middle represents the idea that as it is above is below, with the red ball trapped in the middle bouncing among the many forces of the cosmos and the earth, an analogy of our mortal existence. 

~Gregorio did not want to appear in the world of internet so he choose to cover his face with the rug for the picture when he finished it.
