This is a traditional zapotec design depicting the smile patterns to remind us that laughing and smiling are the start of all healing. Diamonds teach us about the balance of the four forces of creation in the universe. The agave pattern in the frame of the rug invites us to uplift our spirit just like the agave shoots up for the sky when it grows its Quiote, the stalk from which flowers bloom. In the center of the rug we have the eye of the feathered snake that allows us to see the world in a balanced way to find wisdom and love. The dots represent the seeds that feeds us and nurtures our bodies so we can do the work to uplift our spirit; our plantcestors.
