Daín duush: cloud forest

Materials and methods: criollo sheep wool spun in the mills of Tianguistengo. Hand dyed with color fast aniline dyes using an exhaustive method. Handwoven on a Zapotec style loom of the 16th century adapted from European styles. Woven using a 7 threads per inch reed and wool rayon blend for warp.

Desgin, patterns and symbols.

This rug was designed and woven by Gabino Ruiz using the technique called duunúch (Mixed yarns) and the energy lines pattern. It is believed that the earth has energy lines that come together at specific sacred sites such as mountains and rock formations. Animals and humans can tap into this energy lines, probably a subtle way of sensing the electromanetic field of the earth, we now understand that cientifically for birds and other long distance migratory animals.
