Pattern and symbols. The tree of life is an ancient pattern that represents the life path from the sky to the earth. It is believed that our spirit is tethered to the tree's braches in the cosmos, that we are fed by its nipples like the Ceiba trees has the thorns. When we are born our spirit descends to this earthly plane of the mortal dream. And when we die we are buried under the shade of the big Yag Chei so that our spirit can start its journey into the underworld where the tree has its roots.
