Materials and methods: criollo sheep wool in its natural black color. Jute fibers in its natural color. Handwoven on a Zapotec style loom of the 16th century adapted from European styles. Woven using a 7 threads per inch reed and wool rayon blend for warp.

Design, patterns and symbols.

The Guniab Galbain rug is a prayer for life rug because it depicts stripes of the rain pattern, rivers and smiles. After the day of the dead, in November, the clouds are ussually gone for a a while and we don't typicallly get any propper rain until May. The rivers will start to slowly dry up until spring and the only ones that still have water are deeply appreciated; this is why Adrian decided to weave this patterns now as a way to pray for the return of the rains and water in our rivers. The smile pattern is woven on our rugs to remind us that smiling and laughing is the source of true medicine that our bodies carry within.
